70% of workers intend to change jobs next year: Survey

SINGAPORE - Ninety three per cent of employers surveyed said that they will continue to hire to fill essential positions in the next six months, according to the latest survey by recruitment company JobStreet.com.

However, only 22 per cent of the 100 employers surveyed said they would require more than 10 new workers within the period.

Nine percent felt that the economy will continue to pick up.

Singaporean workers are also expecting fewer job openings, but 7 in 10 are still intending to change jobs in the next year.

Salary and job advancement were identified as the top pull factors for a job change.

The majority of the 550 respondents also singled out the first quarter as the best time to start a job hunt.

Jobstreet.com said generally, the market sentiment has improved from last year.

Only 50 per cent of Singaporean workers are expecting to take longer than three months to secure a job next year compared to 70 per cent this year. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
