Employment Standards Online (ESOL)
Employment Standards Online (ESOL) is a one-stop portal for organisations and the general public to transact with the Labour Relations and Workplaces Division (LRWD).
You will require a SingPass to perform transactions on ESOL. The SingPass is a common password belonging to an individual which allows him to transact with the Government online. You may apply or reset your SingPass online.
Lodging a Claim or Complaint under the Employment Act
The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) investigates claims and complaints on salary matters and other terms and conditions of employment for employees covered by the Employment Act. Managers and executives earning $4,500 basic monthly salary and below are covered for the purpose of salary payments, but the other provisions of the Act do not apply to them.
Alternatively, if you are not covered by the Act, you may wish to seek a lawyer's advice on pursuing the matter in the civil court.
Please note that the following conditions will apply for voluntary mediation:
•You must lodge the case within six months from the date you leave employment; e.g. if you left employment on 1 January 2006, the claim must be filed by 30 June 2006.
•The case must be on issues arising not more than one year from the date the claim is reported. For example, a claim for public holiday salary on 1 January 2006 must be filed by 31 December 2006.
To report your case online, the following information is required:
•Details of company that the case is made against e.g. name, Unique Entity Number (UEN), latest mailing address, contact details, etc;
•Your personal particulars, e.g. name NRIC no/FIN no, home address, contact details, etc; and
•Your employment details, e.g. period of employment (start date and end date), occupation, salary etc)
The Ministry may require you to attend the meetings scheduled between yourself and your ex-employer. The Ministry will not be able to process and verify your case if you fail to attend the scheduled meetings.
Operating Hours of ESOL
ESOL is available from 8.00am to 12.00am daily. All applications submitted through ESOL after 8.00pm from Monday to Friday and after 2.00pm on Saturday or on any public holidays will be considered transactions performed on the next working day.
