How Is The PAP Earning Singaporeans' Money?

Do you know that of the money that you have paid into Medisave, MediShield and what is paid into Medifund, the government only spends less than 2% of this back for Singaporeans? Also, do you know that if the government has returned the interest that you should rightfully earn in your CPF back to you, you would be able to have nearly $3 million in savings when you retire? What's more, whatever the government is spending on the education of international students would allow Singaporeans to have free education. And finally, what Singaporeans pay in transport fares can pay for the operating expenses of the transport operators.

So, since Singaporeans are already paying so much money, why are we not getting our money back? Also, why is the government spending on others when Singaporeans need the money as well? And if Singaporeans are also paying tax, does it mean that Singaporeans are double-paying for public goods, yet we are not getting our fair share of what we should back, and the government is still earning from us at the same time?

How Are Singaporeans Losing Money To The PAP?

In this video, you will see that Singaporeans are paying high taxes, CPF and out-of-pocket expenditure - almost on par with what the Nordic citizens are paying. Yet, what the Singapore government returns back to Singaporeans is much lesser than what they should - in comparison with the Nordic countries.

Finally, because Singaporeans are given low wages but we pay almost as high an amount as what the Nordic citizens do, we have a very low purchasing power.

How Much Tax Are Singaporean Really Paying - Comparison with Finland and Sweden

Leong Sze Hian and Roy Ngerng have written about the tax system in Singapore and how it compares with the Nordic countries. They found that the tax and social security/CPF that Singaporeans are paying (on top of the out-of-pocket expenditure for essentials such as healthcare, education and housing) isn't too far off what the Nordic citizens are paying, and might in fact be on par.

Watch this video to understand how Singapore's tax system is unequal and causes the poor in Singapore to be the worst off, among all the high-income countries, and how the high-income earners ironically have it best in Singapore.

Do you think such an unfair and regressive tax structure is healthy for the future of Singapore?
